Kaanchi Jaisi Zubaan
sculptureoriginal
This sculpture is a blend of realism and caricature. It is inspired by the Hindi saying “kaanchi jaisi zubaan” (a tongue as sharp as scissors). The figure shows a person whose words cut others, but in doing so, he slowly harms himself. The tongue, shaped like a scissor, becomes a strong symbol of how every word he speaks carries the power to hurt. His tied shoelaces suggest that his own actions are holding him back, every step he takes leads to his own fall. The piece reflects how harsh speech doesn’t just affect others, but eventually comes back to the speaker.
